STEWARDSHIP MESSAGE FOR MAY 2011

Dear Trinity Friends,
What an amazing service on Easter Sunday! The sanctuary was packed - so great to see! And the service was wonderful - from the beautiful music to the meditation, the hymns, and prayers! It was hard to believe when the service was over that 90 minutes had flown past. We hope you were able to be part of it.

The stained glass windows help to provide a beautiful setting for our worship and praise. In a recent Family Circus comic strip one of the children is whispering to her mother while sitting in church, "The builders of the church knew what they were doing with the windows. You have to come inside to enjoy them." If you have not been here for a while we invite you to come inside and experience the welcoming, joyful atmosphere, as well as the windows.

We have been exploring the meaning of stewardship. We have defined it as "The wise use of time, talent and resources" but other definitions from the web included "All we do with all we have", and "What I do after I say, 'I do'". There are lots more which you can find by googling "Christian Stewardship". As well you will find explanations. Hymns such as "What can I give Him, poor as I am", "Here I am Lord", and #641 in Voices United ".... I'll tell everybody about you, where ever I go" all express the stewardship theme. We will be looking for references in scripture next.

Lisa is looking for help in the Sunday School and Nursery. Help is needed in various mid week activities. There are organizations in the church to appeal to most ages and interests –we invite you to become a regular participant. Call Lisa and volunteer. These are some ways we can be stewards around the church. We are sure that you can think of many ways you can practice stewardship in your neighbourhood and the community. Let us all become God's stewards.

It is apparent that stewardship is not just what we do with our money. How we use it however, is an important part of stewardship. We enclose a brief financial statement so that you can see how we are doing so far this year. As always we depend on the generous, sacrificial giving of our supporters. We have the summer months quickly approaching and as always these will be difficult months for Trinity financially. The expenses go on but the income drops because of holidays and a more relaxed attendance at worship. Please give extra now so that you won't be behind in September, or give a series of post dated cheques for the Sundays you will be away. It is always easier to get ahead than it is to catch up later. Worship will continue in July in Trinity and at St Andrew's in August so attend when you can.

We enclose an envelope you can use for a special "Holiday Offering" if you care to give a little extra at this time. More envelopes will be available from the ushers for those who are receiving this by e-mail.

We wish you a safe, refreshing, relaxing and re-creating Summer. We hope you will be able to get close to God while enjoying His beautiful natural creation.
Yours in Christ,

Your Finance/Stewardship Committee

We have Presbytery dues of almost $4,000 this month as well as $2,423.20 to go to M&S for Japan Earthquake relief. You can see the need especially with summer approaching.

Thank you for your generous donations to Japan. They will be years rebuilding.

Thank you for your generous gifts to Trinity. You keep God's work alive in our community and the world through Trinity.
